Wow. Really really good fish. I never knew cod can taste so good! This indeed have a strong miso flavor, but since the cod doesn't have any flavor to begin with, this is a really good compliment to the cod! Once you bite into it, you can taste and feel that the cod melts in your mouth... excellent dish!
This is the NOBU restaurant inside the Hard Rock Hotel. I have always wanted to check this place out, so I grab the opportunity during "Restaurant Week". It's a 3 course entree for $40, Not a bad deal since they are on the pricier side. This was the highlight of my dinner...this black cod with miso was cooked to perfection, it simply melts in your mouth, and the flavor was sooo yummy. Description on the menu for this is: Alaskan black cod filet marinated in sweet miso sauce and broiled, served with ginger-soy eggplant and steamed rice. It sounded delicious and it certainly WAS!!! This dish by itself is already $22 for a regular dinner price. I also got the Jidori Kushiyaki chicken skewers for appetizer and Mochi ice cream for dessert. The chicken skewers was dry and the mochi ice cream was just like store bought...so this black cod miso really saved my night. Although my friends had the fresh oysters for the appetizer and Passion fruit parfait for dessert...and they were both delicious. So if you are heading out to restaurant week here...that would be the combo I would order! =)
This dish is a glazed black cod. It was served nice and hot and its sweet aroma divinely filled the air when it was brought to the table. The cod had a high quality "silky" texture to it, however, the rich glaze overwhelmed the natural flavor of the fish. The glaze was strong, thick, and sweet. It's a wonderful experience with a few bites but does better when mixed with other entrees.
